The vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday, October 20, departed Abuja to Onitsha in Anambra state for the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress campaign in the state.
The vice president's visit to the state comes ahead of the scheduled November 18, Anambra gubernatorial election.

In a series of tweet on Friday, October 20, the senior special assistant to Osinbajo on media and publicity, Laolu Akande, said the vice president also made a stop over in Odogbolu for the funeral of Dr. Olu Onagoruwa, a former attorney general of Nigeria who died in July.

Akande said the vice president has described late Onagoruwa as a man of principle.

He also made a stop at the residence of General Diya in the same town before heading to Onitsha.
Akande said: "VP Osinbajo arrives Asaba en route Onitsha to flagoff APC Anambra State Gubernatorial campaign featuring Dr. Tony Nwoye.
Now in Onitsha, VP stops by to greet Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend V.M Okeke who says Nigeria big enough for us all & blesses VP's visit."

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the vice president and the Senate President Bukola Saraki were scheduled to arrive in Anambra for the APC's official campaign flag-off.

The APC flag-off campaign chairman, Azuka Okwosa, said the duo would be present at the rally which would signify the demise of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
Okwosa also said the APC was perfecting its plan to mobilise the people of Anambra who are residing within and outside the state for the flag-off event.
