The Season 2 of the Zenith Bank/Delta State Principals’ Cup football competition for all secondary schools has been scheduled to kick off at St Patrick’s College, Asaba, on November 1.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at a press conference in Asaba on Thursday commended Zenith Bank for its contribution to youth development in the state.
Okowa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chiedu Ebie, said the final of the tournament had been scheduled to hold at the Ozoro Polytechnic Stadium in February 2018.
Ebie said the revival of the Principals’ Cup was one of the programmes outlined by the governor towards enhancing the grassroots sports development in the state.
Ebie said the Okowa administration was keen on redirecting the focus of young Deltans to meaningful ventures.
Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, represented by Mr Lucky Ighade, the Deputy General Manager Asaba, said the bank was determined to continue its partnership with the state, saying the competition was a veritable tool for engaging youths in the state.
He said the Zenith Bank Delta Principals’ Cup was a flagship programme of the bank aimed at giving back to society as well as providing the youths a better future.
