INT'L YOUTH DAY: DEVELOP YOURSELF IN LEADERSHIP, ENTREPRENEUR -Adeyemi Segun Ebenezer tells youths

International Youth Day is annually celebrated on August 12. The United Nations (UN) declared this day to spread awareness and consciousness about engaging and encouraging the participation of upcoming generations.

"The duty of the youth is to change corruption." - Aristotle.

My Fellow Youth,

This day is dedicated to young people's role in addressing global issues and making a difference in achieving sustainable development.

International Youth Day also recognizes the contributions of the youth working to bring about positive change around the world as catalysts for peace and prosperity in the community and on the world stage.

We are all clamoring for youths to take over governance. However, there are youths that will take over and the system will get worse because they’re not prepared for leadership.

So, you should stop having a sense of entitlement just because you are youths. Rather, you should seek to develop yourselves by reading books on leadership, governance and entrepreneurship.

Attend seminars, workshops and fora where substance will be added to you, instead of whiling away time on social media pontificating on fantasies.

Please understand that when you go into politics, the purpose of political office is to render service and not to accumulate wealth.

I urged all youths to develop themselves in leadership, governance and entrepreneurship rather than imbibing quick rich tendency.

I wish you all a happy celebration and pray that when we shall be celebrating the international youth day, this time next year, we shall be basking in the ambience of a new Nigeria”!
